Chair of the Board
Welcome to Vaasa, new Tutti student!
Huge congratulations on getting a place to study! You've made a great decision. I'm Matias Mäkelä, and this year I'm serving as the chairperson of Tutti’s board. You're now beginning a new chapter in your life, make the most of it and create memories that will last a lifetime.
For me, this is already the start of my fourth year of studies, and the time has flown by. I got involved with Tutti right from my freshman year by joining the annual celebration team. Last year I was responsible for freshman activities and culture, and this year I've taken on the role of chairperson.
The best part of Tutti is our multidisciplinary community, everyone enjoys being under the same roof. We have a student community here that welcomes everyone just as they are.
As a fuksi, or first-year student, your academic year kicks off with orientation weeks. During orientation, new students get to know the campus and meet other students. Tutti is actively involved in these weeks and also organizes its own events during this time.
At Tutti’s events, you’ll get to know the people running your student organization, older students, and of course, our traditions and culture. Remember, the Tutti board and tutors are here for you. We’ve got a big team of board members, staff, and volunteers who are always ready to help if any problems come up.
If you have any questions about studies, how the board works, life in Vaasa, or even if you just want me to fill out your friendship book, please come talk to me!
Student life isn’t just about lectures and textbooks, it’s also about having fun with friends and being part of a community. Especially as a fuksi, time will fly by, so I strongly encourage you to make the most of this short but special time.
Enjoy the warmth of summer and see you in the fall!
Culture and Fresher Rep.
Hi and huge congratulations on getting your study place, you’ve made the best possible choice. And a warm welcome to Vaasa and Tutti!
I’m Hilja, and this year I’m on the Tutti board as the freshman and culture responsible! I’ll be starting my fourth year in the Industrial Engineering and Management program this fall. This is my third year being involved with Tutti and getting involved in student activities was the best decision I’ve made during my time as a student.
As the freshmen and culture responsible, my role is to introduce you to the world of Tutti culture and the traditions of teekkari life. Feel free to ask or talk to me about anything related to this at any time!
You can usually find me at Tutti’s events or on campus at Tuttis, the Tutti room.
I personally can’t wait for the upcoming freshman weeks. They’ve been an amazing experience every year! Enjoy them to the fullest—they’re something you can only experience once as a freshman. You’ll get the most out of student life by diving in and giving everything a try!
We’ll definitely bump into each other at various events during the freshmen weeks!
See you in the fall :)
Rep. of Educational Affairs
Hello, freshers, and a warm welcome to Vaasa, the University of Vaasa, and to Tutti!
My name is Veikko Rauta, and I’m in my fourth year of studying Automation and Information Technology. This year, I’m serving as the Representative of Educational Affairs at Tutti, more casually known as KoPo!
As KoPo, my role is to represent Tutti in all things related to education, such as meetings with faculty and university staff. I’m also responsible for collecting feedback twice a year, compiling it, and presenting it both to staff and to students.
All improvement in education starts with feedback, so please remember to respond to course evaluations and Tutti’s feedback surveys and let me know directly if you spot any areas for improvement in your studies! The best way to reach me is by email at kopo@tutti.fi or on Telegram at @Veikko_Fe.
You've chosen an amazing place to study, Vaasa truly wins people over with its strong sense of community and interdisciplinary spirit. Tutti is one of the most fantastic communities you could hope to be part of!
There’s a lot to do here as a student, with events organized by various associations and the student union. I strongly encourage you to take part in anything that sparks even a little interest.
As a city, Vaasa is great for students, it’s easy to get around and the people are friendly. The local teekkari culture (student engineer culture) in Vaasa is also something special, combining tradition with fresh ideas and a fun-loving attitude.
Wishing each of you an amazing start to your studies, see you in the fall!
TEK Student Liaison
Hi there, and congratulations! You’ve chosen an amazing place to study.
I’m Jonathan Kivimäki, a fourth-year computer science student. I also serve as the student liaison for TEK in Vaasa - or as it’s more commonly called, “Tykki”. TEK is the trade union for academic engineers and architects in Finland. That might sound unfamiliar and new right now, but don’t worry! I’ll introduce myself and TEK more properly during your first weeks of studies.
You’re about to start a new and exciting phase of life. I highly recommend embracing the student life with open arms and enjoying everything along the way! Everyone’s journey through university is a bit different, but definitely unforgettable.
Our student guild in Vaasa is Tutti and before you know it, you’ll have made lifelong memories and new friends with other members of Tutti and the student community as a whole. Just don’t forget to study a little too!
This fall, you’ll wear your student overalls for the first time - and you might notice that a belt is an essential part of the outfit. The legendary TEK overall belt connects you to a nationwide network of technology professionals across Finland. When you wear it, people will recognize you wherever you go in your overalls. You can get the TEK belt by joining TEK as a free student member. By joining, you’re also investing in your future career — we help you find the best job opportunities already during your studies!
You’ll find me around campus, at TEK’s room ”Tekki”, at Tutti’s room ”Tuttis” and of course at student events and activities! Autumn is coming fast, and I can’t wait to meet you and get to know you.
Until then - enjoy the summer!
